One of the most delightful experiences in my life is walking through the woods with a notebook. My mind is always clearer when I wear my hiking shoes and sit amid the marsh and the birds. There, my questions are answered with ease and every breath whispers the confidence that by nature, things work out. Today, I am not walking in the woods, I am sitting in my cozy living room drinking hot chocolate while it snows. Yet, I can go back into my notebook and travel through time and space to a trail day in December. In this snowy New England day, I’d like to take you into my trail notes.
It occured to me as I typed this last piece that reading is also a way of recognizing the light in someone else’s eyes.
